Beryl* is a young mother of three, courageously living positively with HIV/AIDS. Once employed as a casual laborer in a flower company, she faced an unexpected layoff that turned her life upside down. Despite relentless efforts to find another job, opportunities remained elusive.
Out of desperation, Beryl joined friends scavenging at a nearby dumpsite, collecting cardboard boxes for recycling. With no school fees, her children accompanied her daily, exposed to harsh conditions. Their combined earnings barely covered a single meal a day and rent, leaving them in a cycle of poverty and uncertainty.
Amid these struggles, Beryl was referred to our organization by a kind-hearted individual. After conducting a thorough home visit and background check, we were able to fully sponsor her children's education, ensuring they could return to school and dream of a better future.
But our support didn't stop there. We also empowered Beryl with a small business of her own, enabling her to leave the hazardous dumpsite behind and prioritize her health and well-being.
Today, Beryl stands as a testament to resilience and hope, proof that a helping hand can transform lives and ignite lasting change.
